In 2017, Joy made her acting career debut portraying the female lead Yoon So-Rim in the K-drama, The Liar and His Lover, and went on to win the Newcomer Award at the OSEN Cable TV Awards. The song debuted in the Top 10 of MelOn and achieved an overall ranking of #2 on the Instiz iChart. In November 2016, Joy collaborated with Lim Seul-ong in a duet titled "Always In My Heart". In her childhood, Joy was interested in Modern Trot music. Her family consists of her parents and two younger sisters, Park Ji-yeong and Min-ji. Joy was born as Park Soo-young in Jeju Island, South Korea and grew up in Dobong District, Seoul.
